This the same Denier fabric, same R-value but 70g lighter than the Massdrop x Klymit insulated version. Where does the weight difference come from then?

KverbYeah, I'm annoyed that I bought the other one just before this one came out. I find the one I got uncomfortable to sleep on, but at least this one is less than a pound.

KverbI wonder the same thing and did some reading. Denier is a measurement of weight per unit length. So if the density between the two fabric is different, then strang of fabric will have a higher surface area than the other. I assume in this case that nylon have a higher density than polyester. Since Nylon is also stronger than polyester, this seem like a recipe for rip. I brought one and will probably be very careful with it.
