To start off, I would like to thank massdrop for some of the cool drops we have had recently Including some of the custom stuff. I really would like to see more of this as Massdrop is sponsoring a pro team now: maybe some life counters, life pads, sleeves, etc.
But I wanted to point out some things about this drop.
First, These are V2 sleeves also known as Lot 2 Sleeves. The initial run - Lot 1 - of these sleeves were fantastic. I received two packs of these from an ebay seller back in the day and those sleeves remain with my cards today. Excellent quality, as was to be expected of KMC sleeves at the time. Then I purchased 12 packs of sleeves at a later date from Massdrop and ran into some issues. I ended up having some raised edges on a bunch of sleeves, somewhere on the order of 12 or so per a pack. Of the ones that were fine, i had about 8 split on me during sleeving out of the 300 (I split the order with a friend). I don't know if it is a sample size problem or the lot but these ended up being problematic. I know that Hareruya sells a Lot 3 sleeve now, but I have not heard if it fixes the problems that I noticed.
Second, as pointed out in a few recent drops, sometimes it is cheaper to get the items from amazon than massdrop. As of right now - 10:40 PM CST, Feb 20th, 2017 - the only option is a 2 pack of 50ct sleeves of unknown Lot at 14.99 each. Or about $45 with free shipping which is comparable to the Massdrop pricing right now. But as the drop goes on, It should get to be the cheaper option in the end.
I would point out that Hareruya no longer sells any Lot 2 sleeves. They have a few boxes left of Lot1 (which dont see tournament play due to the lighter color that would give away the back of the card), and sell single packs of Lot3. If you were to try to by these direct from Hareruya, 6 packs of 50 of Lot 3 would cost you 1,800 yen and about 1,235 yen shipping (that's what I got to texas from japan) or 3,035 yen total or $26.69 in USD.
