Neat; I've been looking for an open bud. Hopefully they'll stay in for dog-walks.

w00mUnlikely. Word seems to be these are fantastic, if you're sitting still. Try a Monk+ for a casual open earbud, I can jog with those on

SlowCousinPeteUpdates now that i've had them for a few weeks:
I love them. More open than earbuds normally are (my comparison being Yuin PKs or iBuds), but with markedly better sound quality. They do fall out of my ears more than I'd like; but are markedly better in that regard than my vmoda-m80s or Parrot Zik, barely worse in that regard than normal buds (and perfectly fine for non-strenuous activity, namely dog walks/dishes/etc.) They've actually gotten most of their use for me so far in bed playing PS4 games plugged into the controller.
Easy to drive but sound better amp'd, great for dog walks without worry about getting hit by a car/bicycle. My only regret is the lack of inline-mic; would likely double their use for me as I pull them off for calls or my group online starts using comms.

w00mHeh, I'm comparing them to two of the best earbuds ever made: the Sennheiser MX985 and Cypherus Audio CampFred, and the Koss are still better. The MX985s might have a more preferable sound for certain kinds of music, but if bass yoy can feel is important, the Koss run away with it. I've already sold thr Campfreds and I'm seriously considering selling the sennheiser also
EDIT: if you're handy with a soldering iron you can always splice in a mic-enabled cable. The cord is the exact same as the one on the PortaPro, except worse: it consolidates down to a single strand for the negative/ground at the Y-split. At least the PP maintains separate strands all the way down to the plug. They're easy enough to solder, but it means modifying for balanced operation is that much more difficult for me.
Seriously, how does Koss make such a fantastic product, only to pair it with the cheapest cable in their inventory?
