I wasnt expecting anything for $20 even after a reviewer gushed over them and said they were amazing. Put them on, listen to 3 seconds of a song and I'm Teleported INTO A DIFFERENT DIMENSION!!! The only downside is the hipster look.
Extra note: low end kinda hurts me a bit. its so sudden. like a breeze of wind that has been charged going directly into your ear.
Would recommend to a friend.
Hey there, I had the same experience with the "bass/low end wind feel" causing discomfort. Just a couple of days ago I received the esteemed japanese Yaxi Pads for mine. Wasn't really in a hurry to put them on my KPH30i's, because I just expected them to improve comfort a bit, and that would be it, but they actually surprised me a lot by fixing that "air pressure going directly into your ear" along with changing the feel of the sound a lot. It's like there's much more of a soundscape surrounding you instead of just sound coming from the drivers and going directly into your ears.
I didn't notice the sound characteristics change drastically beyond that. For me, those pads were an upgrade very well worth it. I'd recommend you to check them out too, if you can, you might like it too. It's kind of a "permanent" change, in the sense that you can't get neither the original nor the Yaxi pads off without damaging them, but given the low price tag of the headphone itself the risk factor wasn't a big deal, at least to me.
