I love my Koss kph30i. It is my daily driver on commutes. Sadly I already broke 2 of it. I know it is inexpensive and can be replaced immediately. I like the sound, lightweight, stylish retro-style and the price compared to my other headphones and it is open-back! Instead of throwing away the 1st one - grey, I fixed the cracked headband with epoxy and shared the love for Koss to my sister and she loved the sound. This is now beige retro color (in the photo). I modded the headband with a padded metal band I cannibalized from an inexpensive headphone. The problem I noticed with kph30i’s headband is at the adjustment part is the weak part where the stem below is thick and becomes thin holding the middle headband part. Both of my headphones broke in the same point. I hope Koss can make a ver. 2.0 of this. The same driver, metal headband and removable cable probably mmcx (so that we can switch to balanced cable or if the cable breaks).

Mang_DomengI just got mine in, and really stunned to hear how good they sound. Now I see your modification and am stunned at how well you knocked it out of the park. And I agree, a metal headband, and maybe pretty please a collab with Yaxi? :-} And we have a serious KPH30 upgrade!

Got the headbands from a Mumuso Headphone. You need to do some drilling two holes for the screws and modifying the silver part where the Koss kph30i stems will hold. I think the band is all metal in the inside ‘cos I tried stretching it and it didn’t break.

JJayJJJust be careful on the part where the adjustment part of the headband. Two of my KPH30i broke in the same part. I think that is where the weak part of the band is, thick stem going to two thin stems at the adjustment part.

Mang_DomengIn less than a year since my last Koss mod, here’s my v.2 of the KPH30i headband swap. Now I replaced it with a Sporta Pro headband and I love how it is folding in to a small package now. Clamping force is lighter than my v.1, maybe it is because of the short stem cut I made. With the incoming Yaxi pads, I am excited to replace the stock earpads. I tried the Yaxi from a friends and they are very comfortable without affecting the sound quality. I would call this my Koss KPH30i x SportaPro. I hope Koss can redesign the KPH30i bands as durable as the Port and Sporta Pros 👍🏽

quiztofaI cut a small headband part of the KPH30i that holds the earpiece, I also cut open the cover of the sporta pro behind the earpiece part and removed the round clip that holds the earpiece making it hollow to hold the KPH30i part. I hot glued everything to make it permanent. Mind to not put glue in the middle so that the earpiece can still move freely. Last make sure to put the earpiece at an angle the same as the original. There is a purpose to it. I made a mistake putting it straight and the earpiece doesn’t clamp flat to my ear. I fixed it anyway. (See photo of the angled earpiece

Mang_DomengDo you have anymore pictures of your mod with the mumuso headphones? My KPH30i cracked on the adjustment part. Was able to contact Koss and they asked me to send in the unit for replacement. Unfortunately, shipping to the US would cost more than just buying a new one. And then there's that possibility that it will break again. I'm interested to try your mod. Hope you can help me out.

agent_detergentSorry, I don’t have the headphones anymore. I gave it to my sister. I should’ve sent you the picture of the hinge part of the mumuso headband where I attached the koss earpiece with the stem.
