Simply brilliant. Folds up into the sea to summit x-kettle along with an x-cup for a complete cooking kit that takes up a tiny amount of space. I don't know of a 4-season set-up that is smaller than that. Wish it had titanium legs for a lighter weight though.

I have used this stove this past winter for winter backpacking. It's very easy to use, flipping the canister when you need to. Yes, there is a bit of increase in the flame when you do flip it; but that's to be expected. I use it with a windscreen and I don't bother with the piezo lighter - use my own lighter. Compared to my whisperlite fuel bottle stove, the spider is much, much easier to use. I have only used it down to temps of 15 degrees, so can't say how it performs when it's colder. It doesn't take up that much extra room in the pack. Kovea makes great stoves. I used the Kovea supalite on my JMT hike.

I finally got a chance to use this stove camping. I had already test fired it at home so I knew how to set it up. BTW, when screwing on a full canister, keep the canister horizontal. I used a lighter to light the stove. It worked great to heat up 450 ml of water for coffee. Outside temperature and water temperature was mid 30's Fahrenheit. I did not measure fuel consumption but will do so next time. The regulator knob works well, from simmering to roaring. The pot supports work on my TOMSHOO 750 ml titanium pot (seen here) and on my smaller 500 ml TOAKS titanium pot. I had a wind screen handy but did not need it this particular morning. Once the water was boiled, I also inverted the canister to test that function. There was a sputter but otherwise it worked great. The fuel cable is flexible and the braided sheath looks sturdy. I'm very happy with the Kovea Spider stove. I just need to find a lightweight windscreen for it and actually use it in sub-freezing temperatures.

I also found that FlatCatGear makes two different types of screen. They are heavier but are worth a look. The Bobcat would be good for wider pots while the Snow Leopard would be good for tall and narrow pots.

I like this stove so well, I have 2 of them. I took one on a week-long hike of the Appalachian Trail in May 2017, using canister fuel. Another 2 weeks of bicycling the Souther Tier, I used the propane adapter I had also purchased when I bought the stoves. Canister fuel was hard to find on the bike ride. But Coleman propane fuel was easy to locate. The stove worked well with that fuel also.

Great stove. Light, folds down small enough to fit in my cup. Like most of these types of things...the piezo lighter was dead on arrival. Not a big deal...better than having one attached to the stove!
I recommend this stove for winter camping as you can invert the canister.

For under 50 bucks you get a fantastic lightweight remote canister stove that is all year round. I have read some reviews that the igniter does not work but I found with a very small amount of gas the igniter works every time for me. Would definitely buy again.

Does what it says
It's heavier than the upright canister stoves and it works exactly the same, burning reliably and adjustable from simmer to rocket.
But it has real advantages.
It works well with no trouble in sub-freezing temperatures, unlike upright canister stoves. I tested it on mornings under 20ºF this winter where upright stoves were useless. Turning the canister upside-down makes the flame harder to adjust but makes everything work no matter how cold.
And the stove is more stable with a wider base and lower to the ground than upright stoves.

Nice combination of light weight with performance. The adapter for using with propane worked well, too. Looking forward to getting it out on some hikes.
