Simple, efficient, easy to use
I have thousands of nights in the backcountry. This is the best solo/small group 3-season stove I have ever come across. Intuitive, easy to use, compact, bombproof. Good wind performance. The cooking pot is similarly ideal. The combo is a home run. I would like to see a two pot version of the combo (e.g. a 1 liter and a 1.5 liter option that all nest.). I have the Snow Peak version of this stove as well, the Kovea has consistently better temperature control and mates better with cannisters. The flame pattern on the Kovea helps to avoid hotspots. I would also like to be able to purchase the pots separately in 1L, 1.5L, and tea kettle 1.5L. Best backcountry backpacking pot I have ever used. Nothing finicky, no hotspots, EASY to clean. After a hard boil and 9 minute low simmer of a Patagonia breakfast package of a Raspberry, oat, seed concoction which typically burns on the bottom of the pan with other stoves and pans, the Kovea had no burned crust on the bottom of the pan, and wiped clean with a little bit of cold water and a scraper. Look no further. Buy two for back-up or group use. I carry two and a Vargo Titanium wood burner for a light weight, redundant, bombproof small group extended trip set up. Tip 1: This stove loves to be lit using a handheld piezoelectric “lighter”, saves on matches, lighter, etc. Tip 2: The little canister base leg/tripods significantly improve stability on uneven surfaces. I prefer the MSR branded orange folding plastic ones for a variety of reasons. Toss one in per stove. Tip 3: The Kovea has good wind performance in my experience, but I bring a light foldable metal windscreen for any stove just in case. Think MSR XGK windscreen. I only use my XGK in high altitude snow camping and internationally, but I bring the windscreen on every trip I take. Get out there . . . enjoy yourselves . . .

I have used this stove for about 6 months and it is quick to boil and can be adjusted to heat without burning. The foam insert keeps the stove from scratching up the pot.

Compact and light with a clever all in one design.

Super light, super small, easy to use. Needle valve is very sensitive and accurate. My other stove has a very schizophrenic valve and this is better. Seems efficient enough. I've made a dozen or so meals on it so far with coffee for breakfast and haven't quite finished a 250 fuel can. There may be better or lighter stoves out there, but I'm not going to bother looking for it.
