10 Balanced Armatures Per Earbud
In today’s IEM world, there is a wide range of balanced armatures—each with its own specialty on the frequency spectrum. When a pair of earphones has more than one kind, it can excel in several sonic categories. There are few better examples of this than the ASX IEM from KZ. Inside each earbud, the ASX features an extraordinary 10 balanced armatures: one 30017 for the high frequencies, one 31736 for the mid-highs, four 29689s for the mids, and four 22955s for the lows. Not only do these balanced armatures cover every area of the frequency spectrum—they also give the KZ low distortion levels with precise detailing. High-precision, 3D-printed dividers keep each driver separated, while reducing overall resonance within each earbud. On the exterior, an aluminum alloy shell optimizes comfort and durability.
