I have a Dark Voice 336SE - Great amp. I cannot figure out why such a highly regarded maker of amps would produce an amp that had RCA only in's and balanced only out's. If someone understands the reasoning behind this configuration, I would more than welcome the explanation.
Check out the input section for this early revision of the MA-1.
If you can, notice the input section, and then the output sections... What would you change to make this balanced?
I am a listener - not a technician. I do know one thing. There is no place to connect the balanced output from my source to a balanced input on the rear of the 339. There is only RCA connections. Thanks for your response. I am afraid it was more than I could understand.
It's an OTL amp, this type of amp is not balanced by it's very nature.
Thanks. I did not realize that. Why do they put a balanced connection on the front. What benefit is it as it is normally an upgrade from the standard 1/4" connection. At best, in many cases it would require an adapter - another connection. Thanks again for your help.
It's not a balanced connector on the front, I have the amp and it takes 6.5mm / 1.4 " plug. I understand it does have a confusing look to it, I was concerned about the same thing.
It looks like it takes both 1/4” and xlr. Not sure why the xlr though if it’s not balanced. Maybe just to accommodate more headphone cables.
