carthagoI thought they keep increasing price for the same model in each drop due to demand. I see this is not the case, as the model is now different 339i vs 339.
rumata13But the silver version was $599. and is now $699. It also was $549. at least one other time after I purchased it. The Black version is the actual 339i but as you can see it has gone up several times as well. Drop Customer Service replied to me with a response saying each drop is negotiated at the time so prices can fluctuate
rumata13Actually this Drop is for two different amps. Silver 339 and Black version is now 339i. One has gone up by $150. and one by $100. There used to be a Black 339 and for some reason the Silver version has not been updated. The Silver 339 I purchased was definitely worth purchasing and hopefully changes to a 339i have made the Black version even better. If you purchase either version please share your findings. Enjoy
MusicLoverI cannot verify what you just said, I just checked the options for both and to me looks like its for the exact same amp 339i whether in black or silver and they are priced identical at $699.
bruc31984All you have to do is select the Silver version. Pictures don’t lie. Says 339 and looks different. The Black 339i has handles looks totally different
bruc31984I purchased during first drop of the 339. I’m sorry you may have not understood. I was posting what I know to be facts. I guess it’s normal to be disappointed when you purchase something and the very next time it’s on sale it’s for less than you paid. Still a great amp and worth purchasing
bruc31984Again my issue about price was trying to purchase the updated 339i but unfortunately I can’t enjoy the 339 anymore as It just started sparking. Flames underneath as I touched the top. I don’t use it that often because about a month ago it started to smell real bad. I also keep it on a bar shelf totally open just in case something like this was to ever happen. I posted a question about the smell but no one responded. So I’m not sure but I guess something was cooking inside. Either way it’s dead now
MusicLoverWow, thats concerning with the bad smell. I wonder if this is a common issue or you just got real unlucky.
If its common, I will probably avoid buying this amp.
bruc31984Someone on an Audiophile site said it’s probably bad wiring and bad resistors that make that nasty smell. I have no clue. It was a great amp, clean and extremely powerful but sometime ago it started making a bad smell. Tonight I noticed it was smoking. I touched one of the three box covers and as I touched on it I could see light underneath? Next thing I did was unplug everything. Checked all connections and tried it again. Now it made loud sparks. So I’m not touching it again.
MusicLoverWow thats scary, and yeah I agree best to not touch it anymore, maybe take it to a local technician to have a look if you can.
If I do decide to purchase this amp I will definitely be cautious of the foul "smell", but will not rush into purchasing right now.
Chifi always is a bit hit and miss with QC.
