I've never written with it, but I've held one in my hand. The front (nib section) part of the pen is where almost all the weight is concentrated. This isn't a problem though, because the pen itself is quite long, and it ends up quite balanced when you're holding it in your hand. It is a large pen though, and more on the 'heavy' side of the pen spectrum.
Also note that, with the nib retracted, the pen is 5.5 inches, as the description says. On my hand, that means the back of my pen sticks out quite a bit further than most pens I use do.
I've wanted one of these for a long while; the price is what's making me think. Of course, most of that money is going to the gold nib and, presumably, the quite unique housing and nib unit mechanism. So the price isn't actually that far out there, I suppose.
