Designed by Marco Bellini, the LAMY Imporium fountain pen is a study in subtle contrast—from the matte titanium body and gleaming two-tone nib to the different directions of the guilloche grooves. The PVD-coated barrel features a vertical pattern, the grip section has a horizontal pattern, and both are contrasted by the rounded smoothness of the screw-on cap Read More
I had a chance to try one at my local Lamy Store and they are very nice pens... but even at the discount price point that is a tough ask. At the discount price it is in competition with such great pens as the Pilot 823 (a vac filler and famously well made), Pilot 912/742 (c/c too but with all of Pilot's weirdo nib options like FA and PO), Pelikan M600, Sailor Pro Gear, and not to mention the steel Lamy 2000. At the MSRP you are in consideration of a Pelikan M800, a lot of pens from Aurora and Visconti. It is hard to recommend this over, say a Lamy Studio with an identical gold nib, similar build, and half the price (or better if you buy it here).
CAAROh my gosh! I ADORE the Lamy 2000 in stainless steel! It's one of the best, if not the very best of Lamy ever. Strange a lot of people complain that it doesn't compete with the makrolon version. Guess it's got to be due to the weight (but I love, love it!)
I am definitely not a stranger to fountain pens, but this is one that completely hid from my radar. Kind of a beauty. I couldn’t take a plunge on a Lamy in this price range - I have never found a Lamy nib that I love. Note to self - sell your 2000 asap
