@nicnic a z24 converter is like a cartridge only it isn't not filled with ink. this leaves you an option of using whatever ink you choose, if of course you own your own ink, or choose to buy a bottle of ink through this drop. essentially you unscrew the pen, twist the converter so the plunger is all the way down, insert the nib into the ink of your choice and then twist the converter again to draw ink up into the converter through the filler hole and through the feed. This is certainly more economical than buying cartridges. However if this option does not suit you, there is always the option of cleaning out an empty cartridge and using a syringe the refill the cartridge again. life is a lot easier with the converter as it makes changing inks and cleaning your pens a breeze.
