I was lucky enough to receive my charcoal set (very fine tip) in the first wave. It arrived quickly and I've been putting the two through their paces with my school work. The pencil is OK, I wish I could be gotten it in .5mm but it still works well. I prefer my metal Zebra a bit more due to the weight. The pen is also nice. I haven't had any problems with it (other than getting used to a fountain pen and getting ink on my fingers a few times), but after 3 weeks of moderate note taking it ran out of ink. I used Sharpie pens exclusively before this and they last much much longer. I'll have to look into getting a converter and some ink I guess.

hizzaahOne of the main issues with a fountain pen is, it consumes more ink due to the fact that it takes a considerable amount to keep the tip wet and the ink tends to dry up in the pen. The converter is much better than using cartridges, as bottled ink is cheaper, but, you could refill the cartridges with a needle.
Rollerball-type pens are great in this aspect, as for the most part, the ink shouldn't dry in most instances due to the ink being sealed by the tip, and it writes as smooth as a fountain pen. You should look into getting some of the higher end Uniball Deluxe Micro or Vision Micro, they make excellent pens that write as fine a 0.5mm pencil.
