Tough decision. Was considering this pen when some were offered during the March Bazaar. Now having joined the LAMY CP1 drop, am trying to decide to stick with that or go for this one. The small profile and price point of the CP1 is appealing. I own a LAMY Safari that I picked up to see what all the fuss was about and while I like it okay, feel like there are likely better pens from LAMY. I suppose massdrop is the case of wait another week if you don't like a given week's selection!

choiceweb0pen0Hey @choiceweb0pen0 -- I'm sure that members can share more from personal experience, but:
LAMY Safari, CP1, and Studio (non-14K models) all share the same stainless steel nib. In fact, all of LAMY's nibs are the same shape, except the 2000, but some are partially gold plated.
So, while you're considering which one is "better," just be aware that all these SS nibs will perform the same and it's mostly a matter of the body shape, material, and weight that you prefer.
While those characteristics are very important to how it feels in your hand, you will notice the difference in performance - and price - much more with a 2000 or 14K gold nib (Studio).
We are working really hard right now to bring some new products and brands to the site, in addition to these pens that have been very popular. Thanks for checking back to see what's new - I will do my best to make sure that it's worthwhile to keep doing that every day, if not weekly.

JonasHeinemanThanks for your thoughtful reply, Jonas! I have some heavy large fountain pens and several cheaper skinny pens, so am going to go with the CP1 as an upgrade to the Safari. Maybe in a future drop I'll go for the Studio.
Also, I'm glad to see the Pilot Metropolitan come back, too. I would love some Kaweco pens to appear. I saw that the art deco drop last year didn't do well, but MassDrop and Kaweco will try again with a different model.

choiceweb0pen0Get the Studio. I have all the pens you mention and the CP1 is my least favorite because it is too slight and light. The Studio is my favorite pen. I would buy this one, but they are not offering the 1.1 italic nib I prefer.

UserNamePendingThanks for you advice. I will get a Studio some day soon when I can afford it, but for now opted to get a CP1 with an EF nib, though through Goulet pens for less than the drop price on here. We'll see how it goes.
