What's with all these expensive pen drops? Who keeps voting for this stuff?

T.O.PThe same people who keep voting for expensive keyboard drops and headphone drops and all the rest.
Massdrop gives people a chance to buy low volume (usually expensive) for a bulk discount. There's not much point in having a drop for Bic pens, if you want ordinary bulk you'll do better at Costco.
Also, it's (somewhat) democratized in that anyone can submit an item for voting and vote on an item. Now, just because your item gets a bajillion votes doesn't mean it'll drop, but there's at least a chance.

T.O.PThe answer is nobody. I feel like I see a poll, a bunch of pens get voted for, and they just choose one at random from the list.

DirgesInTheDarkThe writing "community" doesn't seem to work as efficiently as some of the others on here. If the audiophiles or mechanical keyboard people want something it seems to go up but the writing polls are mostly just noise at this point. Massdrop have recently posted a job listing for a Writing / Stationery buyer and community manager so maybe it will improve.
