What we really need is one that holds pens at an angle to keep the ink away from the nib when stored. Like the Levenger Point of View case, but something that holds 15 pens across, and three drawers. Also would be nice to know what kind of wood it is!

lilymansonYou heard her; fifteen pens, at an angle--with three drawers! Why are you still sitting there? Get on it!!!

This is way overpriced for what it is. I have the one drawer version. I am pleased with it's appearance, but frustrated by the fact that there is no mechanism to hold the drawer closed. If you pick up the box, you must be very careful that the drawer doesn't spill out.

I'm also wondering what kind of wood this is made of. Feeling like Lanier doesn't want to disclose. Also where is this made? Hopefully not China? Lol

Saw your update just now. interesting. and yeah, sounds fishy indeed. So much it just not specified. If their chests were made of these exotic woods idk why they wouldnt bodly advertise it for this Drop. Looks like someone who hasn't mastered English wrote those things you copied lol

This thing puzzles me a bit. Let's compare it to the 24-pen glass top chest which regularly drops at $75 apiece. The 24-pen chest is 31.8 x 21.6 x 7.6 cm (volume is 5220 cm^3), costs $75. The 76-pen chest is 36.2 x 19.9 x 21.2 cm (15272 cm^3), costs $300 (320 with a glass lid). Stack of 3 24-pen chests: 31.8 x 21.6 x 22.8 cm (15660 cm^3), total cost $225. So, one can buy three 24-pen chests, which will occupy roughly the same space, sacrifice a bit of storage capacity (4 pens), but only spend $225 instead of $300. So, savings of $75 to give up storing 4 pens. (Actually, if a glass lid is required, the savings jump up to $95.) Now let's look at them in terms of dollars spent, instead of pens stored. Spending $300, one could get four 24-pen chests, have glass lids on all of them, and keep 96 pens safe and cozy -- 20 extra pens, sacrificing something like 9 cm (less than 4 inches) of extra height with a stack of four chests. So, what does this chest offer? The (subjective) logistical convenience of having everything in one box, as opposed to 3 or 4? How often will it matter, for it to be worth extra $95 or even $75? To summarize -- IMO, the 24-pen chest is fairly priced (I have bought multiple), but this one seems overpriced by about $100. Perhaps there are some hidden costs, which only apply to the bigger chest? Packaging, shipping? @Lanier -- would you be able to comment?

Although the type of wood has not been answered, just that it is 'Mahogany stained wood', the design does seem solid and well made based off official info and what is available on the net. The Massdrop offer is also a lot cheaper too than buying directly from the company; examples below: Wood Top @ $400.00 (excluding shipping): http://www.lanierpens.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=DISPLAY76 Glass Top @ $425.00 (excluding shipping): http://www.lanierpens.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=DISPLAY76GT

TheOneInYellowDunno why no one has tried tagging the two Lanier accounts on this question yet.... @Lanier @WoodMaster What is the actual word being used in the construction of this piece? Looking for a better answer than "mahogany colored" or "solid wood" Thanks

“Wood construction” means what, exactly? The finish may be Mohogany, but what wood is the box constructed from?

Ha! I should’ve scrolled the comoments first! $300 for pine or similar is just not going to cut it.

What is it actually made from. I see "Mahogany Finish" and "Solid wood construction," but all that tells me is that 1) It's probably not plywood, and 2) that you used a mahogany color finish. If all it is is oak, pine, or maple, there's no way I could justify such an expense.

ZeiredI’d love to find out more about this too. I’d hoped for an answer before the end of the drop, but it looks like we’re running out of time.

Where is this made? Also, are the trays flat, or do they have a tilt to them to keep ink from pooling in the feed/cap?

What color are the pen trays inside? I saw blue and black in the photos, but would like black.
AprilSmithThe pen trays are black. The blue was from an older version. Regards, Lanier
