How can anyone justify 300 dollarydoos for a pair of boots? That is madness, sure they look nice, but they don't look $300 nice.

CamboA better question may be this - why are other shoes so cheap? What sacrifices do they make to the product to make the price so low?
Making good welted footwear is a complex and time consuming task. Add in the cost of materials like vegetable tanned full grain leather from a renowned tannery and made in the USA construction, and many would consider these very competitively priced. For comparisons, check out brands like Allen Edmonds, Alden, Oak Street Bootmakers, and so forth.
CamboThis is an important question that a lot of people have, especially here in the US. I would add to Ian's comment and point out two elements to consider. We source and make everything domestically, from our factory workers to material suppliers, these individuals make a living wage. Additionally, it can be argued the cost of ownership of a boot like ours over the lifetime of its use is actually less expensive than a pair of cheap boots made overseas. A Porter Boot can be resoled multiple times extending its lifetime for many years, where a cheaper boot may need to be discarded and re-purchased over the same timeframe.
