Thorogoods are less expensive, union made in America, and time tested by men and women in the construction field. They're also resoleable and have nearly zero break in period. If you want a boot that looks like a work boot, why not just buy an actual work boot?
I wear mine every day to work in places like refineries, nuke plants, residential construction, commercial work and that's just in the last 12 months.
Oh and they offer water proof options, which are what I have always bought. Water proofing works great. Spent a month working in foot high snow with my feet warm and dry.
