For around the same price as MSRP I have pieced together a package by looking on amazon and basing it on the Weller WES51. So the WES51 Iron is about $97, 1 pound (16 times what is offered here) of the same solder is $27, and an ESD safe desoldering pump I found on Jameco for $8.95 (with replacable tip), and a set of Irwin Professional wire strippers / cutters for $21. Weller tips from amazon are $10 and under. I use a WES51 nearly every day to replace DC Jacks, capacitors, and other components on computer motherboards. This is all lead free, which he states this kit won't do. He also failed to include a way to strip the wires you've cut with that fancy cutter.
I'm not saying this kit isn't worth the money, but there are better options at this price point. I will say this though, you don't need to pay this to learn to solder. Go down to the rat shack and pick up whatever mid-price iron they have. Buy a few electronics diy kits that beep, bloop, and light up and solder them together. You will come in way under this price, and have actually soldered something to boot! If you have a Micro Center near you, their DIY section is also a great place to find cheap educational soldering kits to learn on.
