Leatherman FREE T2 8-in-1 Multi-Tool

The most compact tool in Leatherman’s FREE lineup, the T2 packs quite a bit of function into its easy-to-carry stainless steel body. Perhaps the most useful is the 420HC stainless steel blade, which measures a capable-yet-compact 2.2 inches. Beneath the blade are other functions, like an awl, bottle opener, pry tool, package opener, and multiple screwdrivers. Like everything else in the FREE series, each tool can be operated with just one hand, and locks in place for security. The built-in magnets make for smooth opening and closure, too. A mechanical engineer by trade, Tim Leatherman was always good with tools. But it wasn’t until a budget trip to Europe in 1975—when he had to constantly fix his old Fiat—that he realized just how lacking some could be.
