I bought one of these for full retail around 2009. I took it to Belize and carried it everyday, everyplace I went. Even wading chest deep in the surf to fish. I had it tethered to my short and it got soaked with saltwater, never did rust. It worked great to extract hook from the fresh snapper destined for fish tacos! I have picked up a few backup devices when I see them around $30. http://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=Skeletool for more information.
I bought my skeletool at cabelas and I have to say it is my favorite edc item I own. Definitely worth the money, but you CAN find them cheaper than this. So shop around.
I got my skeletool for under $30, but it's not unheard of to get them for under $20. This doesn't seem like a great deal, just scan Home Depot and Amazon every few days and pick one up for way less.
VelcroKing 2 yrs ago, it was on sale at Home Depot for 24.99 and i ended up buying 5-6 of them to keep and for Christmas presents. So definitely not the best price I've seen on this either, I guess we are pretty lucky :)
I completely understand. I have family in the Philippines that I sent some to and the customs fees there are insanely high. When I shipped them the price blew up to $67 from $13. (I shipped 7 at one time)
If you can get it for less than $100 with shipping and VAT/Customs fees then it would be worth it to me. Otherwise I would wait for a Leatherman Charge model to come out for a good price. Or, you can get your friends to join in on the order to help with the costs.
