Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that it's going to depend on one's visual acuity and distance from the monitor. No one here can definitively state that 28" or 31" is universally fine for 4K or universally too small for 4K. They can only state what works well for their eyes. To me, text on a 28" 4K is pretty darn small. Also, there is a difference between being able to read small text vs. reading that text and having an enjoyable experience. I can read tiny text, but I'd rather it be larger and more comfortable for day to day use when I'm in front of it for hours. It's all just personal preference; there is no wrong or right. I simply prefer a larger monitor for any given resolution, whether it be 1080p or 4K. I'm willing to give up razor sharp text for increased readability and immersion in games.

LateralusIt will also depend on how close one places their monitor. I tend to have my monitors quite close, with the keyboard crammed between the stand and the edge of the table. This way viewing text on a 28" UHD monitor is akin to reading a newspaper. I guess, as well as how good your vision is (mine's crap), it also depends on whether you prefer having your monitor pushed some way away from you.
