I figured I'd chip in why I'm supporting this drop.
I've been drooling over the LG 3440 X 1440 monitors since Linus Tech tips reviewed the 34UM95 (which is also available as a drop now). The majority of the reviews I've read on the 34UM95 (non-cuved step down) and 34UC97 (currently available variant of this monitor) note how awesome the screens are, both for immersion in gaming and productivity. They also praise the Thunderbolt and USB 3 KVM functionality, allowing a thunderbolt computer and a regular display port/HDMI computer to be both controlled based on which one is showing.
The main complaints seem to be about light bleed in the corners and tilt only stands. Some people also would like G-sync for games, though at least the monitor has a 60 Hz refresh rate.
This monitor uses the same panel as the 34UC97, but adds a much better stand, with height adjust and tilt, as well as a 100X100 VESA mount, which was available as an accessory for the UC97 if you contact LG. I've seen different opinions about the light bleed, some people saying it's not that big of a deal, which others seem to thing it's the end of the world.
Also, this monitor is not available to buy yet, and, judging by the release of the UM95 and UC97, it likely won't be available for a while, or at a markup from some shady site/seller. I figure that March will probably around the time we can actually get it for close to this price at a standard retailer, if not later. I am in the US, so shipping is not very much, which does help. I'm not sure I'd want to pay $100+ for shipping.
