34" monitor with only 1080 vertical resolution? This is some kind of joke, right?

PonteausI was turned off by the lack of vertical real estate, too. Have you looked at Samsung's 2560x1440 32" option, the S32D850T? It's a VA panel, not IPS, so not sure if that's an issue. It pivots to portrait mode if desired and has a USB 3.0 hub on back. I've been using mine for spreadsheets, web browsing, word processing and playing World of Warcraft, and I'm loving it.

JustARandom234"2560 pixels wide by 1080 high" is exactly what ponteus meant by "only 1080 vertical resolution".
Not only it is an odd aspect ratio, many people prefer some vertical real estate for various reasons. This monitor is relatively good with a proper tiling window manager however.
I currently use two widescreen monitors (because finding 5:4 monitors at decent resolutions is impossible after my GDM-FW900 died) one in portrait and one in landscape for general use (landscape) and dedicated reading of lengthy pages (portrait) to mitigate the unfortunate shift in aspect ratios, but what else can you do?
