Very happy so far.. I have not noted any issues with backlight.. just a bit of glow, but it's nothing I'm not used to from older IPS screens. Sometimes I wonder about those expecting perfection.
In daily use so far, when my screen is full of stuff, never, ever see any glow.. I do have some bones to pick with issues when using DisplayPort though.. Here are some things of note with TB vs DP.
1) I have no display issues when using Thunderbolt Port, but it's buggy when using the DisplayPort. Jittery, odd issues. Doesn't matter if using my Late 15" 2013 rMBP or Dell Latitude 6220. (rMBP has dedicated nVidia GeForce GT 750M w/2GB memory, 6220 has Intel HD 3000 integrated video)
2) Turning on DisplayPort 1.2 actually seems to make it even worse and very buggy. If I turned it off, most issues resolved or happened much less frequently and things smoothed out.
3) I've only had the split screen issue when using DisplayPort. No such issue with my rMBP w/TB Port. Even then, so far, it's only been with messing with the resolution. Not seen it during sleep/wake operation.
- For those wondering. If you plug in to a TB port, yes, the USB 2/3 ports work through that and do NOT need the usb upstream cable.. which is very nice. One cable for Video, Sound, and USB hub. Always welcome! :D
- You CAN daisy chain another monitor, but it MUST be a Thunderbolt Monitor or threw a daisy chained dock like CalDigits TB dock. Sadly, directly plugging in a mini-displayport adaptor will not work. /pout
I also have my work Dell Latitude 6220 (Win 7) on a dock under my desk connected to the DisplayPort. Switching between my rMBP and Dell isn't to bad. If I do get the split screen issue, which is always on the DisplayPort, I just turn the monitor off and back on; fixed every time so far. I suspect this is some kind of bug in their DisplayPort firmware. I don't think this is a hardware issue.. at least it doesn't act like it. Does this monitor support some type of firmware updates? Hopefully they address it.. Just occasionally annoying right now though..
