For anyone deciding between a 38" ultrawide and a 34" ultrawide, I can recommend going for the 38". I have been using HP's equivalent to this model (Z38c) since December and it's glorious. Prior to that I had a 34" ultrawide on loan, but I found it to be lacking in height - it sort of becomes a wide-version 24" monitor, whereas the 38" is the same height as my 27" monitor, but a heck of a lot wider.
You're absolutely correct. It just *feels* a lot shorter than the 27" QHD, I guess because of proportions. My work setup is a 27" QHD (HP Dreamcolor) and a 38" ultrawide side-by-side, and those two feel like a better pairing than when I used the 27" with the 34" ultrawide. A quick look at the 38" (WQHD+) has it at about 3cm taller than the 27".
SmithyNZI would want to get a monitor of this size but I wanted higher dpi. I want to use pbp mode to display output from two PC or split a single ultrawide into two virtual monitor. does the ultrawide you use allow pbp at the native resolution that takes up the half screen? it doesn't look possible on the Acer 38 ultrawide.
BjornJoin the club. A few years back MD was much more generous with international shipping but ever since Trump got elected, they are sticking to his America first policy lol, especially now.
It's funny. I got a VR headset and ... yeah, for some stuff it's better, but actually the rapidity and smoothness of glancing aroung this monitor is actually sometimes MORE immersive than vr.
If they could shave another sixty to eighty dollars off the price and offer cheaper shipping to Canada I'd be all over it.
Sure was a short drop, not a lot of time to consider buying.
BetaDazeOh yea, hell even an extra $50 off and I would have been all over it. I feel the current discount can be found on amazon if you look hard enough.
Honestly, I think you'll be really happy. It looks great in motion, it's SUPER sharp, and very bright. It's not HDR, it's not 144Hz, and there are some cheaper monitors out there, and that's literally all I can say bad about it.
kkw21204Why compare this to the x34 and x35? This is more of a workstation monitor that you can game on while the x34 and x35 are gaming monitors. The pixel density and aspect ratios are different too, this monitor pushes more pixels. Also, the x35 is not even out yet, so you can't even compare prices.
AnzialThat's what I thought too, if it was coming in closer to $850 it would be a steal, and a lot more people would be jumping to buy. I'd perhaps even buy it closer to its current price if it shipped free to where I live... but then I am looking for a professional grade monitor for my wife and would like it to match her brushed aluminum case (which is pretty niece).. so for the average buyer, I can see why people aren't bending over backward to buy it as the price sits... its just too average of a price, and not really a "deal" as a drop ought to be. Doesn't really matter what the MSRP is on any one particular item when it comes to things like this, you have to look at the whole market and beat the average price of all comparable options to really make it work.
