LG trying to clear stock as they are starting to ship the 2018 models to stores now. lol.
Still, probably a great deal to get these cause the 2018 models only have an upgraded processor which allows "AI integration"

EniGmA1987How smart do I really need a tv to be? Any idea what additional functionality this enables? Having a hard time thinking of a good use case for AI with a tv.

jbbellThey integrated Google voice assistant so that you can control the TV with your voice and integrate it into your smart home. They call it "AI ThinQ" and the new processor in the TV is called the "a9 intelligent processor"
Personally, I never plan on buying any smart assistants like Alexa or Googles. At least until they have way more control and can easily be 100% blocked from any sort of data outside my network or into it from the outside, as well as having integrated firewalls on each device. The current state of smart homes is tragic. Massive amount of security issues. So this TV smart integration doesnt mean anything to me, and why I opted to buy a TV now instead of getting one a couple years down the line when I may not be able to find a good one without a smart assistant built in.

EniGmA1987Makes sense, thanks for informing me. I'm not in on the voice activated craze, but it certainly seems to be popular.

VitalNo, Alexa is Amazon. Bixby is Samsung. Siri is Apple. Google's is just called Google Assistant
Amazon and Samsung do however base their operating systems on Android. However both lock down their phones and tablets in an attempt to prevent modification and the use of regular Android OS, and if you try to compile a straight version of Android to run on their devices it will not work as you u need to use their proprietary, custom files to make the OS work.
