I really dislike acrylic for it's environmental impact. If you want something sturdy and washable, cotton is just as good if not better.

Acrylic isn't that bad. If you are making stuff that is for a baby, mom isn't going to wash it on delicate, lay flat to dry, or whatever. We need something we can throw in the machine without a second thought and it doesn't go badly.

I used to think of MassDrop as a place to go to get high end stuff at buyers club pricing. There is nothing special or high end about acrylic yarn, and this makes me question the quality of anything else i might run across here. I see a lot of low end plastic based crap on the knitting community...How can we get them to bring in higher end stuff? If you want acrylic go to the craft store.

loveofthedarkI agree that acrylic sucks, but I think it's important to recognize that not every acrylic is going to be like Red Heart Super Saver or Caron One Pound. :) Acrylic has its uses (e.g. baby items that will definitely see a variety of body fluids) and meets the needs of some people--there have been 57 previous buyers of this one drop.
However, I'd love to see higher-end or luxury drops for the knitting community, too. You can start a poll and go from there!

loveofthedarkI totally agree. Very LOW end yarn. Walmart quality not even craft store. I’m not impressed with needles or notions either.
