Best thing Massdrop ever offered. Pay 50 bucks and get a cable that will make your iems shine like hell!!! Build is reasonably solid, sound is smooth, resolving, big phenomenal sound, I pair it with my Prophile 8, never heard anything better before.
I use this high-quality four-core OCC pure silver and gold-plated wire, this braided cable from Lin Soul is a great upgrade from the stockTSMR IEM cables.
I also have the Penon cable however the chin slider on them didn't function at all resulting affecting the sound experience.. The IEM was unable to stay in my ears.
B1gdee05Oh, yeah, I never thought about it, but the chin slider on the Penon CS819 is basically just there for looks. It won't stay in place if you wanted to hold the cables together while wearing the IEMs. That said, I have never found a use for the chin slider on any EIM or headphone cables, so it doesn't bother me at all, and the CS819 really is much better built and sounds significantly better than the stock Noble Audio cables for my Noble 3 universal IEMs (I have used the standard cables and the cables with the included mic+remote).
My only real guess as to why the CS819s sound better is that they have much thicker conductors than any of the stock cables, and I wouldn't have even switched if my stock cables hadn't started cutting out in the left ear, depending on how I moved. I'm kinda glad the old cables broke, though, because I am much happier with the new ones. Also, these and the CS819s are both cheaper than Noble's headset/remote cables, so I even saved $5.
Shure 846 - worked great as a replacement for crappy Shure Cables that came with the IEMs.
TBH these cables are great but they don't have the moldable plastic ear hooks that are helpful on the originals. They don't really need them b/c the cables are heavy and create enough downward pressure to hold the IEM around the ear.
Lastly the gold cabling is a bit ghetto looking as the cable looks like a RunDMC neck-chain from the early 80s.
KevlarBondUPDATE: Years since I purchased and these still are go-to solution for Shure 846. Not sure why, not sure I care but the audio quality is exponentially more consistent than the SHURE cables. Daily use...no complaints.
Well made cable at a reasonable price. No microphonics. Solid connectors. 7N silver-plate copper and sufficiently thick. I'm not a huge fan of the gold color, but I don't hate it either. I don't see any reason to pay more for a cable unless you need something custom.
I got the cable and it worked for a few days,
After i inserted the cable into my macbook pro the jack got lose and after removing it from the macbook it bended.
I don't know if i just got a faulty cable or if all of them have this issue.
There is no Warrenty from either massdrop or lin soul and no one to talk to.
if someone knows a way to contact lin soul directly that would be great because when it worked it was a good cable.
davidjohnI was under the impression that there was a 30 day return window for all products. Otherwise, contact linsoul on their website. Also - if you are pulling a plug straight out of the 3.5mm socket on a Mac, what actually bent?
I swapped the standard cable for this one from LinSoul on my TinAudio T2. It really made a difference. Both the look and the feel is much better. It is a very comfortable fit and the cable has no memory and does not tangle.
The sound improved quite a lot. The base was the most obvious, but the overall impression is a more open and clear sound overall from the IEM. Even though the cable is more expensive than the IEM it was worth every dime.
