What makes them any better than stock? Based on the available information they're looking pretty stockish.

shanewhkMaybe bragging rights for having a silver cable, and possibly looks, but it has been known since Cleopatra that audio cables do not make audible differences under normal circumstances.

The_Jniac"audio cables do not make audible differences under normal circumstances" The better the gear, the more obvious the audible differences. Far too many people have experienced that for it to be simply hype.

GdebritoYou are right, it is not hype: it is the Placebo Effect. The brain has the ability to alter the perceptual information that it receives before that information enters consciousness. Here is an article detailing some of the power it has.

GdebritoThere is a reason audiophiles won’t do genuine blind tests on equipment.

FluphActually I've seen (in print) a number of blind tests with a panel of participants. Nor is there anything stopping you from getting together with like minded people to conduct such tests. But in point of fact, a lot of 'audio' societies have long done just that. If needed, google "confirmation bias" and then apply it to how people fall prey to accepting propositions that rest within their biases.

The_JniacOf course, who are we going to believe, pontificating 'experts' or our lyin ears? A line from Hamlet applies; "There are more things in heaven and earth Horatio... than are dreamt of in your philosophy" Another applicable quote is by the SciFi grandmaster R A Heinlein; "One can judge from experiment, or one can blindly accept authority. To the scientific mind, experimental proof is all important and theory is merely a convenience in description, to be junked when it no longer fits... To the academic mind, authority is everything and facts are junked when they do not fit theory laid down by authority."

The_Jniacexactly. all it may do is raise or lower impedance. it may make them sound slightly louder(or not), by a few decibels. it will not alter the sound quality.

GdebritoThis has been experimentally tested. In fact, stereophile did a blind test that had the stupidly expensive cable lose to a much less expensive one. It was not really a valid test, since they forgot the X in ABX test, which prevents it from actually controlling for placebo effects, but it still showed that the expensive cable produced no benefits. In their own article, they also posted measurements showing that the differences between the cables were far below what a human can detect. These thresholds were also experimentally determined.

ScrimgaliActually, no. Altering impedance is the only way a cable can affect sound quality, since it can alter the impedance seen by the driver, which, in turn, alters the frequency response. However, as long as the impedance seen by the driver(or speaker input, in the case of multi-driver systems) is less than 10%, or 12.5% according to NwAvGuy, of the impedance of the driver (or, again, the thing you are driving to which the cables connect), there will be no audible changes to the frequency response. Even if you violate the 1:10 rule, many headphones have a flat, or flat enough rather, impedance response that the alterations to the FR will be reduced. That is why many studio headphones have a flat impedance response: to avoid being mangled when going into a studio that has not been updated since the 70s and whose headphone amp has an output impedance of 120 Ohms.

The_JniacLOL man I thought you were smart and then you ended up a Church of Digital Infallibility Computer Weenie. Look Silver plated OCC Copper sounds better there is more data(oh this is really gonna burn you up lets just call it quantum data) through the wire and the highs are way more extended. Its not even close OCC Silver plated copper is order of magnitudes better than OFC copper there is just no comparison anyone who cant hear the difference especially with some good 6%+ silver solder on the terminations is a Digital Infallibility Computer Weenie brainwash who is worried that the rest of the Cliff Claven(the character on the show cheers who is a comical example of conjecturing noob with the most supreme level of confidence to the point of hilariousness and lacking any real knowledge....(now your thinking Im describing myself,,, wrong I am pure knowledge and material science and observation and you and Cliff Claven are the anecdotal conjecture)) backseat engineers on the forum are going to flame him into submission. Not gonna work on me cucks(this is not directed at anyone specifically but we know how this debate goes everytime it comes up).... Im mighty mouse the more all u rats turn into the walls of the maze and try to shock me it only adds to my power until I stomp you all into submission.
