From an initial impression, good cables for the price.
Bought the 2pin to 4.4mm (for my iSine 20) and a mmcx to 3.5mm (for the Tin P1) and both feel like quality cables. These have solid construction and weight to them that makes me think they'll last a while and the weave is tight (unlike the original cable with the P1) so I'm not worried about fraying and individual strands getting caught and/or damaged. I was a little concerned when I ordered but the 2 pin fits perfectly in the iSine
As the title says my initial impression is these are really good cables for the price. I'll update later as I get to use them more.
Dekoni tips are great. They sell them on Drop for a good price. For the P1, get the larger size, I think called "Mercury". I'm literally listening to my P1 with these tips right now. Also, DEFINITELY get a new cable for the P1. The stock wire produced a ton of distortion for me on my Dragonfly Red amp. I bought a Yinyoo cable on Amazon and it cleared up the issue.
Though I'm sure there's a legion of a-holes out there who will rejoice in shouting 'confirmation bias', I will attest that these well-built cables did improve the sound of my Nuforce Primo8's in all aspects. Admittedly, the stock Nuforce mic/control cable was pretty poor ootb.
...also, they're pretty.
I don't know how to evaluate the performance of this cable other than 1) do I hear sound, 2) are there any obvious design issues. I purchased MMCX to 4.4mm version, and love the aesthetic and weight of the cable. No issues with sound or design.
Exactly as described, decent value. Chose balanced MMCX to replace the bad cable on my Tehnz P4 Pros.
I could wish for a little more strain protection around all of the connectors however - there is a rubber ring for each of them, but it only cushions bending and not pulling.
Would like it if massdrop added an option for ones with a memory bend area for the ears :-)
Not bad, but would be better with guides around the ears to provide strain relief. Wires start digging into earlobes after a while. Wouldn’t recommend in its current form.
Sturdy feel, and a huge improvement (see below for reason)
I bought these with the Balanced option to replace the unbalanced cables which come with the Massdrop Plus iems. I can wholeheartedly say that using the Balanced output of my DAP changed the MD Plus iems from anemic treble-forward squeakers into very well-rounded and pleasurable iems. Maybe MD+ needs the additional voltage to produce any midrange at all. Because mids were completely missing before, and they are more than acceptable now.
