Anybody know how does this pair with LCD-X?
0.01$ discount. Amazing.
With tube amps, all your gonna get is mixed opinions because no one has the same tubes as someone else. If your wondering if this will drive it... for reference, my lcd x is easier to drive than my previous he-400. Lcd-x is very sensitive for an ortho.
I don't have an amp for them yet, I just want to spend the money wisely so my main concern is that some SS may be too bright for the X's, and some tube amps may put some unwanted noise. Can you throw some light into this?
Don't worry about the lcd x's being too bright! The headphones themselves already sound like what a tube amp should sound like imho; and that is coming off of a schiit asgard 2 (to be fair it is considered a "warm" ss amp, but I honestly don't hear that... or I've never heard a "bright" ss).
Don't have the mkiii anymore so cant comment on how they sound with a tube, but many people on forums claim that they sound good with tubes too. As for noise, it depends on your electrical outlet/wires/equipment/etc. Most don't have a problem with it.
Thanks a lot Mike. I'm going to try some SS and tube Schiit this week in a local store and then decide. I tried yesterday The Raptor by Ray Samuels tube headamp, first time trying tubes with the X's and I was really impressed. I liked it much more than other SS I tried, but this amp is pricey..
Nice! Yes indeed, the best thing to do is try things out.
