Been using it for more than 1.5 years now and it has the natural "patina" in the leather already. The scratches it has from keys, edc knives etc, added to its character. The leather already loosen already since I tried inserting 5 to 7 cards. But still great IMO.
Really nice, been my go to for the last few months, have to pull all the cards out I i he a specific one but fairly easy to reach the for couple. Has a really appealing rough feel. Easily holds 6-7 cards and a couple to a dozen bills.
So far after daily abuse at a carpentry shop and many outdoor activities, it has help up well. I am sometimes too scared to put more stuff into it because the leather expands and I feel like my stuff is going to fall out if it isn’t packed tightly.
I used to use a 5 pocket Cocah minimal wallet which separated out 4 card slots (I carried 4 or 5 cards in these 4 slots) and the fifth slot was used to hold US cash bills folded in half. I had passed that on to one of my boys and was missing that minimal wallet and saw this. The price was right so I gave it a try. They did not have black, which is what I had wanted; I ordered it in Mahogany, which was fine. I used it for about 3/4 of a year before I switched to a different minimal wallet. I never really quite felt satisfied with it because the one slot for the cards was a little oversized for 3-4 cards; there was some extra room around the cards. Not enough to easily fall out, but it was not as tight as my original 5 pocket minimal wallet. The cash bill loop on the outside was ok; it was a little hard to use if you had more than a few bills and all the edges of the bills exposed were subject to getting bent/folded/more wrinkled. The leather was fairly "thick" and having 3-4 cards plus the leather is thicker than my new minimal wallet and my old Coach 5 pocket - even though the LM wallet has no dividers for the cards! I think the quality is fine and is a great value for the cost. However, it doesn't quite function the way I had wanted and the fine details are not what I had hoped. If you want a minimal wallet for good value, decent leather, then this could be a good fit for you.
In writing this review to remind myself of the brand one year on. This wallet is tough, stylish, and does everything I need. It feels like it will last forever too.
This LM wallet is very cool. As backstory I have to confess that I bought one of the A&H wallets from Massdrop in November and have been using for 9 months (until today). What I realized about that wallet is: ID windows are useless, the money-clip folding option is cumbersome and due to the spindle and hook of the latter, that wallet is pretty big, especially when loaded with all my crap (10+ bills & 8 cards). So today, this LM Thompson wallet finally arrived and wow, what a difference. One pocket for the cards, and a cleverly integrated strap that's sewn into the single seam as the money clip... The old wallet is almost 25% larger when loaded with the gear I mention. That's a big difference. And the new leather smells awesome. Can't wait to break this in and see how it holds up day-to-day. My fear is that it will stretch out and I'll lose the credit cards. So far, I'm thrilled.
I bought this really not expecting much for the price. But it quickly replaced my much more expensive wallet. It is an extremely simple design. There’s nothing fancy about it. But it seems to be very well put together and because of its simplicity it is virtually weightless. It absolutely disappears whether you go back pocket or front. I do both depending on the setting. The leather has a very soft feel that also helps it to be more “grabby” than slick finished leather, which instills confidence that my stuff will stay in the wallet and not come sliding out. Overall I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this if you’re looking for a TRULY LIGHTWEIGHT minimalist wallet.
