Will I need unprotected 18650 cells, or will my protected button-top cells still fit?

RF95349Protected button-tops won't fit. Flat top unprotected are best, button top unprotected should be okay.

RF95349Protected cells are not recommended for high drain applications like this light. They generally don't supply the necessary amperage. You're going to want a battery that can supply a continuous minimum of 10A. Samsung 30q is a good option.
