Wound up spending 35 for 2 flat- top unprotected 18650 batteries and a charger to get the light up and running. The user interface (UI) is . . . you need to keep the instructions close by! It's the most feature-loaded complex UI have encountered. The clicky switch seems to be a bit sensitive / finicky but think am getting the hang of it. Definitely need to carry it in lockout mode to preclude it being accidentally turned on (can get HOT!). Ability to activate momentary-moonlight while in lockout mode is a nice feature. Like the ramping up and down. All in all, like it!
PS
The front part of the manual recommends "flat top" batteries but later on, under specifications, it says "flat-top" or "button-top." There's another apparent error in the manual when describing the "UI: Muggle mode", where it trails off -- "It has a red [and then nothing else]"
