Really wanted to loved this one. I found the wings design to be nice in a niche way. Anyways, if you wanna buy this one, you better have a good treble tolerance. These are sharp on the highs without a doubt, with a punchy mid bass along with it.
Despite the shape, they're not very comfortable on my ears. Good isolation, but the nozzles were a bit too thick, and the orientation of the nozzles could be tilted a few degrees inwards for my liking. Your mileage may vary though! Build quality was good as always by LZ.
A pair of bright sounding earphones with slight mid-bass elevation. Plenty of micro-details which might be leaning towards the aggressive side. Love the braided cable except the part with memory wires. Solid metal housing and a quality item.
Good afternoon guys,
At that price they are a robbery, I bought them for more than double.
For me they have 2 defects but with easy solution. The first are their highs, they are so detailed that they sometimes are silibances. The solution is either to buy the filters of the A6, or put Comply tips.
The second problem is his cable, suitable for taking the dog for a walk. I recommend having a cable ready for when they arrive.
Once these 2 points are resolved, they are excellent iems. They are very well built and very comfortable. Its profile is V, they remind me a lot of the Fostex TH-900, the advantage of the A5 is that you can easily modify your response as I said before. But those who like iems with good sub-bass and detailed, are great.
I own these (though not through Drop). I have to admit they are my least favorite IEMs. For ME they are incredibly bright. Even with the A6 filters (I bought them since I hoped that some of them would help to tame the A5 treble), and narrow bore tips, they are just too uncomfortable to listen to for more than a few minutes.
As always, audio is highly subjective and your experience may differ. But I wanted to put this out there...
StompNo matter how low the price, it only is a bargain if you use them...
What is your favorite sound signature? If the answer is bright with emphasized treble, go for it. If you like neutral, warmer, or bassier sound, no.
jsmiller58Appreciate! thanks for the quick and informative reply! This made my decision very easy! I dont like emphasized treb so no go for me. Happy New Year!
Mama took my A6 so I never get to even hear the sound. Wonder if the A5 is close enough or better score another set of A6 (which was double the cost of this one).
If anyone wants a pair of these for a better price, I'm looking to sell mine in mint for $200 shipped via PayPal goods and services. I have a fair amount of rep on a few trading forums.
