Just got my blue M.7 Aluminum Tab keycap this morning, and it is BRILLIANT. The look, feel, attention to detail, all superb. I've printed my own "screens" to go with several of my boards. My favorite is a collection of screengrabs from the Life Aquatic to match my GMK Belafonte set. (attached) It's unbelievably cool.
When I saw this keycap I knew I just had to have it. A customizable keyboard with a customizable keycap? Where could you go wrong. The cap itself comes with 100 different images that you can swap out with your T.V. making it very customizable! Whether you're a fan of colors, animals, music, cartoons, anime or even just cute things, there's something for everyone. The insurmountable number of custom images (and the ability to create your own) give the keycap infinite possibilities and prevents it from ever getting old or stale. I recommend it to literally anyone looking to give their keyboard a bit of personality.
The only gripe I have is that swapping out screens can be a bit finicky as you need a needle or toothpick to separate the magnet and screen holding the image in place. On top of that the other screens you're given need to be manually cut out with either scissors or a precision tool and must be done so carefully and perfectly to fit the screen in the keycap. Other than that, it's a great addition to any artisan collector!
I agree with most of the comments below, the color plating is smooth and done very well. i also had the same issue with the magnet, and my sweaty pinky would pop the plastic off every time. Pushing the magnet back into the socket has worked for me thus far, but I imagine I'll have to glue it down at some point. Build quality could be slightly better, as the black part on mine is slightly loose as well.
The metallic "thock", as @peeweejedi puts it, is super satisfying. Made me place an order for another metal keycap, GMK Blurple Rama Works.
This keycap looks quite nice as a second artisan on my NK65. The ability to change out the picture is something that I find very cool and unique. It is definitely one of the higher points in customizability and creative interaction with a novelty/artisan keycap. I actually find that pressing the tab key where I have it placed doesn't result in any sort of annoying sound, just a louder and more metallic thock. It actually feels quite nice to press. I really like this product and plan to pick up more of the M.7 novelty caps down the line.
Got the red one. Love the quality, sturdy and heavy. It's a bit large for the ESC key, not really a key you would frequently press on like the enter key, too bulky and it's a bit too heavy. Wish the little photos they provided were cut out. Doesn't mention what size the little pictures are or any description on how to change the pictures. You have to poke the holes in the back of the cap to push the clear window out to switch the picture.
This is a nicely made Keycap, and I love how you can switch out the pictures. As for comfort, I haven’t had any issues. The magnet is strong, and it comes with SO many pictures to use. That was a nice touch. Considering another for the other side, but I’ll refrain for now.
I must say I love the aesthetic of these keys but notice that they make a ping noise when using. It seems to be the black insert that holds the photo down. This can be resolved by using a bit of poster tack on the back of it! Ping is gone!
