M-Audio MTRACK Quad

I have an answer to your question, I apologize for the long wait! While there are design similarities, physical and otherwise, these were developed independently and have different internal hardware. The preamps on the Quad are superior for one. Also the Mac issues, which the Akai EIE had, have been resolved and are not a factor with the Mtrack Quad. I would like to address a couple of points if I may, to try and answer and clarify some of your questions. Akai does not own M-Audio, they are separate companies that are a part of a large corporation called InMusic Brands. They do not to my knowledge share technology. There are licensing and copyright issues as I understand, so despite the physical similarities that is as far as they go. As for Mac compatibility issues, I have seen nor heard of none myself. If you have a link to share please do and I will look into it. When I have seen these both used, multiple times, it was with a Mac every time. No issues arose to my recollection, but maybe there has been a change since then. I have reached out to InMusic for more information and will surely pass it along once I hear back. Not to shit on this but his really makes me wonder what kind of problems are to be had with this unit. https://d3jqoivu6qpygv.cloudfront.net/img_comment/K6K7CK_20150705_215705_7BR9Y.png I read on an Akai forum that Akai owns M-Audio or vice versa (something like that), and its all the same parts, so you can expect the same quality. I own the Akai EIE Pro and my issue was that it constantly crashed my computer and horrible latency issues. This is a common problem with the interface for many people. They only recently released drivers that improved this, I haven't had a proper chance to make sure they fixed my problem yet. And for Mac users, I've been told they shouldn't even go near the EIE Pro for the same reason, and they get new drivers very rarely. Anyways, now that I've gone thru the shitty experience, and great pains to finally get my EIE Pro working properly, I'm still going to stick it out, but if you look at this M-Track Quad unit and compare it to the EIE PRo, its almost the same exact product, without the VU meters and a more vertically compact shape. Makes you wonder. Something to ponder is all...
