Designed with input from captains in the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service—and worn by members of the distinguished team—the S.A.R. Rescue Timer is built to withstand the perils of any mission. Fitted with a shockproof 26-jewel movement and a sapphire crystal that’s 4 millimeters thick, the S.A.R. won’t fail in extreme conditions. This construction also contributes to its paramount 1,000-meter water resistance rating. As far as layout, the watch is about as easy to read as it gets, without Arabic numerals that is. At the cardinal hours are large, triangular markers that are complemented by thick hands—all of which are lumed for added visibility. The crown is positioned at 4 o’clock so as not to impede wrist movement if you’re diving or on the job.
