moeyo1000I don't see any reason it wouldn't, it's a USB Hub..

Is it still a doc if it doesn't charge your device? Wouldn't it just be a hub?

Maybe I'm missing something, but this just looks like a 5 port USB hub with Ethernet port and microSD reader in a nice form factor that matches the styling of a MacBook. Or is there something more to this?

There is a known issue with many usb powered hubs that when connected to a mac are unable to connect an external HD. So far the only hub that will work are hubs sold at apple stores, like the Belkin hub. I went through several of them without success before I finally bought one from the apple store. Apparently it has something to do with the firmware most hubs use, it's only limited in compatibility with Macs. I wonder how this one would fare...
ToemaytoeI use a powered Sabrent 4 port USB 3.0 hub with an external drive and it works, only cost about $20.

Kinda disappointed this doesn't have an hdmi out or headphone jack. My laptop already has most of these plugs on one side, so I lean it against my wall with the laptop shut and plug all the cables in when I get home for a desktop experience. It just sucks that my headphone jack is on the other side of my laptop (the side that rests on the floor), so the only benefit this item would give me is saving me the time of plugging in mouse/kb/monitor/power and instead I would plug in 1 usb/monitor/power.
If this had a headphone jack and hdmi out then I would just have to plug in power and this thing's usb, and not have to muck with bluetooth speakers.

mrvn58It works via USB 3.0, as long as your machine has that interface it'll work the same.

The LAN port is not gigabit? The heck?

WoodShop2300The whole docking station is connected to the Macbook via one USB port, which cannot support gigabit speeds. You should expect poor data throughput on this docking station because of that.

DreaMagineUSB3 *theoretically* can transfer 5Gbps - realistically a lot less than that. I have benchmarked USB-connected Ethernet adaptors pushing almost a full gbit/sec. Packet rate, latency and CPU load will never be close to what a PCIe or Thunderbolt adaptor can achieve.
