Exactly correct. Teak is the dumbest choice for a cutting board material. The thing that makes it wear well for outdoor furniture is sand that naturally occurs in teak, not something you want touching your knives, endgrain or not. There are many, many better choices out there that are also beautiful. The Japanese have it figured out, (hey they make the best kitchen knives in the world), they make incredible rubber boards that are self healing and do not harm your knives. This is for the most part what sushi chefs use. Any other wood except for walnut (many people are allergic to it) would be better than teak. A matter a fact if someone asked me to design the worst cutting board in existence teak would be my choice.
