Joined the drop. My first mechanical keyboard. Got it in white with gateron reds and icy blue LEDs.

erickongBest of luck, it's a brave choice. I have to say, red switches and a 40% layout are a pretty niche pick for a first mech keyboard. If I was recommending a first mech, I would suggest a TK/TKL layout depending on your numpad needs. For the switches, go with Topre 45g, Matias, blue/brown cherries depending on the amount of your disposable income. Reds are really lightweight linears, not the best for typing (with no tactile or audible feedback) and super twitchy for gaming.
PS. If you don't mind a full size keyboard, this drop https://www.massdrop.com/buy/unicomp-ultra-classic is an awesome way to get into mechanicals for not a lot of money. Loud and proud ;-) and feels amazing for typing.
consolationMy roommate is buying that Unicomp so I'll definitely get to play with it. I bought a switch tester off Massdrop (my first purchase from this site) and found the quality of Gaterons to be much higher than Cherrys. I hate browns, but I might buy something with blues later. In Branny's post you can see why I wanted this board. I'm use to my laptop keyboard so playing overwatch with the magicforce should feel pretty similar (gotta keep up that aggressive Lucio movement).
