For a cord that won’t fray and is easy to plug in and take out, check out these handy magnetic charging cables. Compatible with Android and iOS (depending on your selection), they feature a connector that plugs into your device Read More
The concept is great, however I had issues where my phone wouldn't charge because the magnetic part didn't make full contact with the cable. I had to push the connector to one side or reinsert several times to get it to work.
Also, unfortunately I only purchased one cable, and having multiple charging spots around, this got cumbersome to use since I either had to swap cables or take out the little nib (which is very easy to lose) when using another cable.
I have had good luck with the cable so far. However it would be nice if it came with both common types of usb plug. I do not use it often because I'm afraid I'll lose the little magnetic nib when I have to remove it to charge at work or in the car. Turned out not to be as useful as I thought.
My wife and I ordered 4 of these. 2 for her phone (MicroUSB), 2 for mine (USB-C). They arrived about a week ago and they were AWESOME!
Now, however, both of hers are broken. They both broke at the same point, where the magnet is on the phone connection bit that separates from the rest of the cable. In both cases, the Magnet itself was the point of failure. One magnet split in half, the other just fell off and has vanished (we have a kitten, so, it's possible that she took off with it).
DO NOT order these until they go through a SIGNIFICANT design change. They are NOT worth it.
They are a great idea and I definitely hope that they can fix the design and put out some better versions, but, for now, just don't.
MkongYeah exactly it's all because of shape of connector and adapter . i have bought one fast charging magnetic cable in Reewo.co which looks good and also works good.
This magnetic cable is perfect for bedside devices. When I put my tablet down each night before turning out the light, it's easy to get it on the charger!
Purchased both Lightning and Micro USB, both types had trouble with the actual connector staying in the device. Magnetic connection was stronger that the device connector friction.
I purchased 4 cables. they lasted about 4 months and I was done. the magnetic part snapped off the very first cable I tried to use. the second and third cables lasted a few months. and the last one became inoperable just a week or so ago. the magnet fitting will come detached from the plug that is inserted into a device. one such problem required the use of needle nose pliers to remove the tip from my tablet.
