This is a great kit, with just a little room for improvement. The kit comes with a slip of paper, giving you a URL to online instructions. The instructions are clear, thorough, and easy to follow. I was able to follow the instructions without any issues. It took maybe two hours total. There was just one annoyance in assembling the kit, and that was soldering the ground pads. The ground plane has quite a bit of thermal mass, making it more difficult to get a good solder joint. This can be overcome by using a bunch of flux and a higher temperature setting on the soldering iron. (That said, I have to wonder if a ground plane is really necessary for a kit like this?) As a handheld, the Makerbuino is fun to mess around with. I haven't tried all of the games, but the "Tetris" clone is fun. The games are pretty simple, as expected. My only issue is with the feel of the buttons. The D-pad uses tactile buttons that are extremely clicky. They're satisfying to press, but way too stiff for precise control. It makes it difficult to play some of the action games. Overall, the Makerbuino is a great kit. I'd definitely recommend it. I'm looking forward to writing my own games when I get a chance. There's also a breakout header, so I can potentially hack onto the handheld or incorporate it into some other project in the future.
