Sturdy and comfy
I've got the big one, so i can cram more stuff into it. Wrenches, car parts, workstation (a Dell brick, i can't say it's a laptop). Two big pockets for edc. Two sections with a pocket inside. I loaded it in the hardest 7-10 kg of stuff, and it is still in one piece. Wide strap does it's job well, though such big asymmetric load is really bad for your back. You're warned. Carried papers, files full of papers, pipes and tons of beer. The only hiccup was the internal pocket ripped a bit, but that's my own stupidity - overloaded it with metal tools and had a rough ride. Sewed it with nylon thread with a saddle stitch - almost mint condition. Overall: great bag. I wanna mid sized one, they're just of my favorite type.

It would be perfect if it had a handle
Excellent construction and decent sizing. I understand a single handle stitched to the rear is difficult to implement since the body is soft and the weight will shift forwards, but I think it would still add some good functionality.

I really like this bag as a laptop bag but my biggest problem is it doesn't have a handle on the the top. Every time I go to grab the bag I go to the bag to where a handle could be and just grab a handful of bag instead

I bought the small with back zipper and compartments which is the perfect size for a tablet, magazine, notepad and EDC gear. You know, a man-purse. It's also quite roomy when you open the expansion zipper. Very nice fit and finish with good stitching and seams. The front pocket has decent organization and lots of room. I like the look of the hidden snaps on the top flap but it does make them harder to get at when you want to open it up. There's something different about those snaps that I can't quite put my finger on. They make me feel like I'm left hand when I am trying to open them. It does seem like I am getting used to them though. The only negatives I can think of are pretty minor. It would have been nice if the strap was attached via D-rings to allow replacing it with a different strap and (I know this is typical for a messenger bag, but still) I wish it had a handle on the top. The strap is perfectly adequate and for a bag this size, a should pad is probably overkill (I bought a small Manhattan Portage shoulder pad but I am not sure it's necessary) but it would be nice to have the option to change it. Handles are just too damned useful to omit in my opinion. With a strap, you can grab the bag by the handle with one hand, grab the strap with the other and toss it over your shoulder and you're on your way. Without a handle, I have to think twice about how to pick up the bag. A bag with a handle is much easier to deal with when you're not carrying it. I'm gonna try it without one but I'm pretty sure this bag will be getting a handle mod at some point.

Bag is good & right size. But the material is pretty hard, hopefully it will soften as it goes along.

Use 6 days a week, lasts a long time and looks great. 3rd messenger bag in 12+years, will buy again. Appreciate the availability for AU as Manhattan Portage has not been available here for a long time.
