++ Big. Lots of room. ++ Extremely durable, no problems with water walking about a mile in a midwest thunderstorm. All zippers, snap-closes, buckles, belts, straps, seams, and dividers are built extremely well with durability as the top priority. ++ Zero problems with the magnetic roll top fastener/buckle. I'd read a lot of people complaining about this, and had no problems over the course of a tournament/travel weekend carrying my gaming/photography gear. ++ Straps are comfortable, waist and chest buckles are placed well for 6' bodies. Ergo is good here too. I am confident that this would not jostle at the sides if hiking, running, skating, or biking. Pads are everywhere they need to be. ++ Strong belts on the sides to attach gear/water-bottles. Believe these are designed for tripods/umbrellas and work beautifully for either, but I've mostly used them for a lot of other carabiner/anchor stuff. ~~ Divider configuration is a little overwhelming with underwhelming options for configuration. The instructions aren't super clear on how to assemble it or what might work as a quick-access side pocket. Probably does what it's supposed to and I'm just not great at figuring out the nuances of it. Also haven't really seen any cool add-ons at MP that might make post-purchase reconfiguration a possibility. -- Only one truly separate zip pocket, and it's the shallow one on the front. -- Laptop sleeve velcro strap is a bit short. I have a 17" laptop that fits, but can't be strapped in without cannibalizing one of the modular velcro fasteners. :( Overall, I think if you're looking to cut corners on the price/modularity of a Black Ember or other really nice backpack, the Drop price and value is super fair.

It is about as I expected. The cordura fabric is very thick, so the bag is kind of stiff. I am overall happy with the bag. I have a previous bag from the same company, and it was very stiff at first. After about a year or two fo constant use the fabric relaxes a little.

That's my 10 year old messenger next to the new bag. Note the mundane 'red label' in contrast to the ultra exclusive 'black label'.
It's going to take me a while to grow into this bag, as it has a lot of options and features. The straps are very comfortable, and there is also a sternum strap and waist belt. Was surprised to find that the laptop sleeve is entirely removable. It i secured to the inside of the bag with 3 large snap button fasteners. Which is great. I need to carry my laptop on some days. But on other days that would just be extra bulk. It has a neat little trapper keeper style mesh pocket. Which could be good place to stash adapters and whatnot.

After you remove the laptop sleeve and camera compartment the bulk and weight is reduced a lot. You can crank the compression straps down and get it pretty slim.
I do have a couple disappointments. Wish there was one or two more external pockets for stuff like camera batteries, sunscreen, glasses case etc. There is only the one pocket on back, and another on the bottom that wouldn't be a good place for anything that can get bonked. Not very enthusiastic about the roll top-ishness. It isn't a lot of roll to the roll top. Compared to Chrome and other roll top bags. The point of a roll top is that you have an ordinary sized bag that can expand to carry extraordinary loads. It's only a few inches that roll up. Also the strap for this is a magnetic buckle. It seems pretty secure, but not sure how it would fare with a large load. And to really whine extra hard about the roll top, the bottom of the buckle should be much farther down. Like 8 inches farther down.

Also, the waist belt is permanently attached. This is kind of a bummer. I do not see using this belt except when I have it completely loaded up with a full complement of photo gear and a laptop. The rest of the time it's just...there. The bag has a sleeve that you can tuck it into, but it's still extra weight and fiddly things flopping around.
Overall I am happy with this drop. Good price and great bag even with a couple shortcomings. Next time see if you guys can get it in more colors! I'd have preferred red instead of the olive. Maybe see if you can get a MD exclusive color?
