From what I gathered, reading this comments section. 70% of people are salty that they can't afford it, 20% just want to join in, and 10% are actual customers.

PurpleArmyOne of the truisms of audiophile equipment is that past a certain point, you’re paying for exclusivity, quality of construction and sound signature, not accuracy or power. This is one of those products. I’d love to own one because it sounds awesome. For those who can afford one: Buy it. It’s an amazing amp. For those that can’t, take comfort in the fact that a THX 789 costs a lot less, is also a fantastic amp and will leave you with funds to buy something else that will probably deliver more bang for the buck.

PurpleArmyI'm expecting there is a sizable percentage (myself included) that can afford the amp, but are salty because the price is stupid for what you get. Esquisite craftsmanship or not, $3k+ for an amp that is missing features that are readily found in $100-400 amps is stupid. I want good sound, I don't need an art piece that doesn't match anything else in my house. I'd rather take the $2000 I save by buying something that is not boutique and put it into something worth while... like more cans... or my investment account...

PurpleArmyI use headphones late at night, in near dark conditions, so the visual impact (for better or worse) is negligible. Bragging rights are meaningless to me, and beyond those two things, I see little to justify the price. As with a lot of audiophile gear, I can easily afford it, but cannot justify it based on value. Obviously, I am not in the target demographic. Actually, I would be curious to know the overlap between Massdrop and whatever the target demographic is for this amp.
PurpleArmy Hi There! I am commenting because I just want to join in, loooozer me..... That being said and gotten out of the way, (since I pretty much think that ANYBODY has a right to discuss stuff, if the header says "Discussions" up on there someplace, and without gatekeeping), I'd just as soon spend that kind of cash toward a REALLY GOOD tube amp. Like Woo stuff. Or some Eddie Current... something by Blue Hawaii? This isn't about grinding at people because they have something to say, I don't think there's some kind of income floor to a discussion of gear. Some of the best Gear heads out there don't have a lot of scratch so we BUILD our own, make stuff even better than production, or resurrect stuff and refurb it from The eBay. Which maybe makes us pretty good at understanding the WORTH of something. I have a ceiling to my expenditures because I still have a wayz to go on paying off school....... And I'd rather buy THE AMP and not THE HOUSING for that kind of cash. At least they chose tubes that aren't hard to come by. That sure would have been sweeter if they had stuffed a gorgeous rectifier into the mix..... Buy two, and you have BOOKENDS! :0D any who. I am with pshanks on this one...I also listen in the dark. The gorgeous glow from my refurbed boughtitonTheBay WA22,(which is matte black, btw), is enough for me, I guess. Or maybe the Fireflies when I am looking for cutieboutique. Or my WA2 for the unbalanced and for its ability to power FULL SIZE PASSIVE SPEAKERS. Which I think I will just save the 3600 toward that WA33 that has me drooling... so I GUESS I could squeeze out the cash for this if I wanted, maybe elevate myself to an adequate perception,(yours), of my income? pass. on all of it.
