“Gearhead” is a fitting name for this innovative folding knife. If you’re curious why, just take a look at the pivot. Fitted with a unique gear-driven mechanism, the Gearhead looks more like the inner workings of an automatic watch than a folding knife. To open it, press the trigger-shaped lever and watch as the gears start to turn, propelling the blade out from the handle. Once deployed, the blade locks in place with a built-in liner lock. All said and done, the Gearhead is more than just a looker: It packs a 3.4-inch blade (in your choice of a tanto or drop-point) and a hefty aluminum handle with a stainless steel backspacer for a substantial feel. For carry, there’s a right-handed tip-up clip as well.
