Why is there no magnet in the base? That would make the case for this light over using a headlamp for hands-free lighting.
I've held off on these so far as I've found a headlamp to be a perfect hands-free solution for me. Having a magnet in the base would just make this a no-brainer for plopping it onto a surface. It would make it so much more useful and offer a mode of use a headlamp does not offer.
Still, I'm going to try this out. I like the black anodized color, and I find I can't use anything smaller than an AA battery in these kinds of lights.
A single AAA is usually too dim and short lasting for me. So this AA model should fit the bill.

K.T.NI did a review of the AAA and think it is a game changer for handsfree use. The magnet is less useful than the clip because the clip can be used on your person, while the magnet needs an external object.
